Dentistry for Children

Starting around 1 year of age every child should have a dental exam. These preventative appointments could include a tooth cleaning, flouride treatment, oral hygiene instructions, x-ray pictures if needd, and an exam by one of our pediatric dentists.

During this exam the doctor not only checks for cavities and monitors the child’s oral hygiene, but also watches the eruption of the adult teeth and any orthodonic needs the child may have.

Sealants

Are a thin plastic coating applied to the biting surface of the permanent molars. They are often recommended if the teeth have deep grooves that are susceptible to cavities. The sealant fills in these grooves and helps to prevent cavities.

Fillings

Both white (resin) and silver (amalgam) fillings are available. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can be used to make the visit a more pleasant experience.
